University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus The University of Puetro Rico, Mayaguez Campus (UPRM), made history as the first chapter of Puerto Rico inducted into Psi Chi, the National Honor Society of Psychology. A group of 24 students and two professors from the psychology program were inducted October 23, 2008. During the induction ceremony, Dr. Guillermo Bernal (professor of the Psychology Department at the University of Puetro Rico, Río Piedras Campus and distinguished member of Psi Chi), noted that the establishment of this chapter is an important step for all of the UPR system. It establishes a community of academic excellence and forms a mentor research program that looks for professional improvement in all of Puerto Rico.
