Research Awards
Bandura Graduate Award | Feb 1
All psychology graduate students who are Psi Chi members and graduate student affiliates of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) are eligible to submit their research for the Psi Chi/APS Albert Bandura Graduate Research Award. The winner receives the following: (1) travel expenses to attend the APS National Convention to receive the award, (2) a three-year membership in APS, including subscriptions to all APS journals, and (3) two engraved plaques, one for the winner and one for the winner's psychology department as a permanent honor to the winner. This award is presented during the APS opening ceremony at the APS National Convention.

Diversity Article Awards | July 1 
Four awards of $300 each are available for the best Eye on Psi Chi articles published by student authors on diversity issues, including but not limited to ethnic minority, GLBT, gender, and physical disability. The submission cannot contain faculty primary authors or coauthors. Both graduate and undergraduate Psi Chi members are eligible for the award

J.P. Guilford Undergraduate Awards | May 1
All Psi Chi undergraduate members are eligible to submit their research for the Psi Chi/J. P. Guilford Undergraduate Research Awards. Cash awards are $1,250 for the Grand Prize , $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, $500 for third place, and $250 for 2 available Honorable Mentions. The abstracts, photos, and brief biographies of the top four winners will be published by Psi Chi.

Newman Graduate Award | Feb 1
All psychology graduate students are eligible to submit their research for the Psi Chi/APA Edwin B. Newman Graduate Research Award. The winner receives the following: (1) travel expenses to attend the APA/Psi Chi National Convention to receive the award, (2) a three-year subscription to an APA journal of the winner's choice, and (3) two engraved plaques, one for the winner and one for the winner's psychology department as a permanent honor to the winner. In addition, the abstract of the winning paper, as well as a photograph and brief biography of the winner, is published in Eye on Psi Chi. This award is presented during the prestigious APA/APF Awards ceremony at the APA/Psi Chi Society Convention in August.

Regional Research Awards
All Psi Chi members (undergraduate and graduate) are
eligible to submit their research for the Regional Research Awards. Cash awards
of $300 each are presented to students submitting the best research papers to
Psi Chi sessions at regional conventions. The number of awards in each region
varies based on the size of the region; a total of 78 awards of $300 each are
available each academic year. Award monies are distributed at the conventions
following the presentations. Deadlines for submissions vary according to region
and sometimes from year to year.

Society Convention Research Awards | Dec 1
All Psi Chi members (undergraduate and graduate) are eligible to submit their research for the Society Convention Research Awards. Cash awards of $300 for undergraduates and $500 for graduates are presented to students submitting the best research for Psi Chi sessions at the APA and APS national conventions. Up to 8 awards are given: 4 for the APA Convention and 4 for the APS Convention. Award monies are distributed at the conventions following the presentations.

Research Grants
APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship | July 1
Psi Chi and the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) have partnered to provide a new fellowship opportunity for outstanding research-oriented students who must apply by June 30, before entering their first or second year of graduate school. The intent of the Junior Scientist Fellowship is two-fold: to provide funding for 1st-year or 2nd-year graduate-level research projects and to provide constructive feedback to applicants in order to increase their chances of achieving success on a future National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship application. Funds must be used for the direct costs of 1st or 2nd-year psychological science projects. To be eligible, applicants must be members of APAGS and Psi Chi. APS Summer Research Grants | Mar 1
All undergraduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these summer research grants (research must be conducted while still an undergraduate, not after graduation). The purpose of this program is to provide funds for members to conduct summer research with an APS sponsor. Psi Chi will award 6 grants of $5,000 (a stipend of $3,500 to the Psi Chi student plus $1,500 to the sponsoring APS faculty member at the research institution).

CUR Summer Research Grants | Mar 1
All undergraduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these summer research grants (research must be conducted while still an undergraduate, not after graduation). The purpose of this program is to provide funds for members to conduct summer research with a CUR sponsor. Psi Chi will award 2 grants of $5,000 (a stipend of $3,500 to the Psi Chi student plus $1,500 to the sponsoring CUR faculty member at the research institution).

Faculty Advisor Leadership Training Grants

Faculty Advisor Research Grants | June 1
All current faculty advisors and coadvisors who have
served an active Psi Chi chapter for at least one year are eligible to apply for
these faculty advisor research grants. The purpose of this program is to provide
funds for advisors to defray the direct costs of conducting a research project
(no stipends included). Six awards of up to $2,000 each, one per region,
and six additional awards of up to $2,000 each without regional restrictions
will be awarded to enable Psi Chi advisors to conduct empirical research. This
is a total of 12 available grants.

FBI NCAVC Internship Grants
All undergraduate and graduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for this internship grant. The purpose of this program is to provide annual grants to aid two Psi Chi members in conducting research at the FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crimes (NCAVC). Two grants up to $7,000 will be awarded annually for the 14-week unpaid position. You must secure the FBI internship before applying for this grant. Graduate Assistantship Grants | Jan 1 
This grant provides funding for four teaching and four research graduate assistantships during any academic semester. Each grant recipient will receive $3,000. Applicants must be a graduate student who has yet to graduate and a Psi Chi member to be eligible for the program. A total of $24,000 has been allotted annually for this program.

Graduate Research Grants | Nov 1 & Feb 1
All graduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these graduate research grants. The purpose of this program is to provide funds for members to defray the cost of conducting a research project. Applicants may request up to $1,500 for each project. A total of $20,000 has been allotted for this student grant program; $10,000 for the November deadline and $10,000 for the February deadline.

Hunt Research Grants | Oct 1
All Psi Chi student and faculty members are eligible to apply for a Thelma Hunt Research Grant. Up to two grants of up to $3,000 each are presented annually to enable members to complete empirical research that addresses a question directly related to Psi Chi. Unlike other Psi Chi award/grant programs, the Hunt Grants focus on research directly related to the mission of Psi Chi.

Mamie Phipps Clark Research Grant | Nov 1 & Feb 1 
All Psi Chi members (faculty, graduate and undergraduate students) are eligible for the Mamie Phipps Clark Research Grant. Each grant offers up to $1,500 to defray the costs of conducting a research project focusing on ethnic minorities. Total funding available is $10,000 per year: $5,000 for the November deadline and $5,000 for the February deadline.
This grant is named for Mamie Phipps Clark, a psychologist and activist, whose research on children and race/racial identity helped inform policies that ended segregation in the United States. In 1938, Dr. Clark graduated magna cum laude from Howard University. She earned her PhD from Columbia University in 1943 as the first African American woman to earn a psychology PhD from that institution. Unrestricted Travel Grants | September 5 & Dec 5 & May 5 
Winning applicants will receive funding of up to $1,500 to attend a psychology or psychology related convention that is not funded by the Psi Chi Regional Travel Grants (EPA, MPA, RMPA, SEPA, SWPA, and WPA). Annually $22,500 is available for this program with at least $7,500 available per funding round. Any funds not distributed in previous funding rounds will be available for the next round.

Regional Travel Grants
Annually $33,000 is available to Psi Chi undergraduate and graduate student members to travel to one of the six regional conventions. For the submission requirements and deadlines, please see the regional web pages.
Regional Information
STP Assessment Resource Grant | June 1
The purpose of this grant is to further the goals of Psi Chi and the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP—Division Two of the American Psychological Association) by supporting projects to develop assessment tests/instruments/processes to demonstrate student acquisition of goals 2, 4, and 5 of the APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major (see http://www.apa.org/ed/psymajor_guideline.pdf for descriptions of these goals). Acceptable resources developed through this grant will be distributed by STP. Grantees also are encouraged to present their results at local and national conferences.
Up to 3 grants of $2000 each can be awarded each year. [Of the $6000 needed annually, Psi Chi will provide $3000 and STP will provide $3000.] Proposals are reviewed by a 5-member committee jointly appointed by the Presidents of Psi Chi and STP.

SRCD Summer Research Grants | Mar 1
All undergraduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these summer research grants (research must be conducted while still an undergraduate, not after graduation). The purpose of this program is to provide funds for members to conduct summer research with a SRCD sponsor. Psi Chi will award 2 grants of $5,000 (a stipend of $3,500 to the Psi Chi student plus $1,500 to the sponsoring SRDC faculty member at the research institution).

Summer Research Grants | Mar 1

SuperLab Research Grants | Oct 1
All undergraduate and graduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these research grants. The purpose of this program is to provide annual grants to aid one undergraduate and one graduate student in conducting computer-based research. Grant winners receive a copy of SuperLab experimental lab software and a response pad from Cedrus.

Undergraduate Conference Grants | Oct 1
The primary purpose of this program is to provide funds for local/regional undergraduate psychology research conferences. Consideration will be given to conferences that do not focus on research but advance other goals of Psi Chi. Proposals for conferences that span beyond research must clearly elucidate the connection to Psi Chi goals and be designed to primarily serve Psi Chi members. Funding is intended for conferences that will invite student research presenters from at least three schools in the area and will notify all Psi Chi chapters in the geographic area of the conference. The maximum grant for each conference is $1,000.

All undergraduate Psi Chi members are eligible to apply for these undergraduate research grants. The purpose of this program is to provide funds for members to defray the cost of conducting a research project. Applicants may request up to $1,500 for each project. A total of $30,000 has been allotted for this student grant program; $15,000 for the November deadline and $15,000 for the February deadline.

Cousins Chapter Award | Feb 1
The Psi Chi/Ruth Hubbard Cousins Chapter Award is presented annually to the one chapter that best achieves Psi Chi's purpose. The winning chapter receives: (1) a check for $3,500, (2) travel expenses for one chapter officer to attend the Psi Chi/APA National Convention to receive the award, and (3) a plaque to display in the winning chapter's department.

Florence L. Denmark Faculty Advisor Award | Dec 1
The Psi Chi/Florence L. Denmark Faculty Advisor Award is presented annually to the one Psi Chi faculty advisor who best achieves Psi Chi's purpose. The award includes (1) travel expenses to attend the Psi Chi /APA National Convention to receive the award and (2) an engraved plaque. The award is intended to recognize Psi Chi faculty advisors for their outstanding service to the chapter and to Psi Chi.

Kay Wilson Officer Team Leadership Award | Dec 8
To award the best chapter officer team for exceptional leadership as a group. One award of $2,000 is available annually. The chapter retains $1,000 of the award and the faculty advisor divide the remaining $1,000 among the officers.

Kay Wilson Leadership Award | April 1
The Psi Chi/Kay Wilson Leadership Award for Outstanding Chapter Presidents is presented annually to the one chapter president who demonstrates excellence in leadership of the local chapter. The winning Psi Chi chapter president receives: (1) a $500 cash award, (2) travel expenses to attend and make a short presentation at the Psi Chi/APA National Convention, and (3) an engraved plaque commemorating the award.

Model Chapter Awards | June 30
Model Chapter Awards of $100 each are presented annually to recognize and reward Psi Chi chapters that consistently maintain outstanding records of membership inductions, chapter correspondence, service projects, and other criteria associated with being an outstanding chapter. All chapters submitting evidence of meeting these criteria are designated as winners.

Psi Beta/Psi Chi Building Bonds Award | June 1
The purpose of the Alberta Johnson/Ruth Cousins Building Bonds Collaboration Award is to recognize and formally acknowledge the efforts and outcomes of both a Psi Beta and a Psi Chi chapter, which through collaboration, have a significant impact at the local, state, regional, or national levels. The collaborative efforts may focus on scholarship, leadership, research, and/or community service.

Psi Beta/Psi Chi Collaboration Grant | January 20 & June 1
In order to encourage collaborative and cooperative activities and projects between Psi Beta and Psi Chi chapters, this grant has been established to help collaborating chapters achieve their goals with support from both Societies. This grant program will provide seed funding for up to four collaborating chapter pairs. All applicants for the Collaboration Grant will automatically be entered in the Building Bonds Award competition.

Regional Chapter Awards | Dec 1
The Psi Chi Regional Chapter Awards provide annual recognition for the chapter in each region that best achieves Psi Chi's purpose. Each winning chapter receives a check for $500 and a plaque. The awards are intended to perpetuate the chapters, to identify chapters as role models for others, and to promote the purposes of Psi Chi.

Regional Faculty Advisor Awards | Dec 1
This award is presented annually to one Psi Chi faculty advisor from each region who best achieves Psi Chi's purpose. The award is to recognize and reward actively involved chapter advisors. The winning faculty advisor from each region will receive $500.
