The Mount Saint Mary College Center for Adolescent Research and Development invites presentations for a seminal conference on varied aspects of adolescent development. Topics may include how adolescents are responding to changes in economic, political, and global environments that have occurred in the first decade of the 21st century. Conference participants will further examine how these aspects might continue to evolve as this generation progresses to adulthood. This seminal conference will foster interdisciplinary collaboration and conversation about adolescents today and open the door for further research on the basic question of constants and change for adolescents and young adults in the 21st century. The primary purpose of this conference is to focus attention on these issues and to create a network of researchers who will explore the same questions in various formats and venues, with input from those working directly with adolescents. Three interrelated thematic strands provide structure for the conference: (a) current challenges (social, psychological, educational, and economic) facing adolescents today; (b) recent findings regarding adolescent growth and development; (c) innovative programs and policies that address adolescent concerns as perceived by those working directly with adolescents.
