URGENT!! 990-N AUTHORIZATION
The November 15th deadline for filing 990Ns for 2009 is almost upon us. If your chapter has NOT submitted a 990-N Authorization form to the Central Office, you need to do so
immediately.
Chapters that choose not to file this authorization form will be required to file their tax returns directly with the IRS, and comply with all IRS regulations. Failure to do so may result in loss of your tax-exempt status, the consequences of which are having to file business tax returns and owing $$ the IRS.
Chapters who have not submitted this form will be contacted by email and phone over the next two weeks. Be aware this is a separate form from the e-receipt from the IRS that many chapters have submitted.
This form can be found at
http://www.psichi.org/pdf/990NAuthorization.pdf
Chapters can find their EIN and/or charter number by logging into the Psi Chi web site as the chapter administrator or by emailing
michele.rumpf@psichi.org. Forms must be signed in order to be valid.
OCTOBER 29-31, 2010 SYNERGY CONFERENCE ADDS SATURDAY-ONLY OPTION
The 2010 Synergy Conference theme is Positive Psychology, and will be held October 29-31 in Denver, Colorado. Students and faculty wishing to attend the conference on Saturday only may access both the Oct. 30 and the Oct. 29-30 registration forms at:
http://psibeta.org/site/synergy-conference-2010-oct-29-31-denver-co.
The Saturday-only $10 conference fee includes lunch. The registration fee for the entire conference is $55 for students, $60 for nonstudents.
The Synergy Conference is co-hosted by the Psi Beta chapter at Community College of Denver, and the Psi Chi chapters of Metropolitan State College and University of Colorado, Denver. The keynote speaker on Saturday morning is Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, author of “The How of Happiness.”
ONLINE CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The call for nominations for the 2011-12 Board of Directors will be done electronically through the Psi Chi website. On November 1, the link to the Call for Nominations for Psi Chi Board Officers will be opened and accessed through your chapter's administrator login. Nominations will be accepted for President-Elect and Vice-President for three regions (Eastern, Rocky Mountain, and Western).
All chapters may submit a nominee for President-Elect from the list of candidates who qualify for this position by having served at least two years within the last 10 years as a regional vice-president. The list of eligible candidates will be sent with the call for nominations. Each chapter may nominate one candidate from this list for the President-Elect position. Each nomination must be accompanied by two statements from the candidate. Nominations must be submitted by December 15 in order to be counted as valid.
In addition to President-Elect, chapters in three regions (Eastern, Rocky Mountain, and Western) may nominate an actively involved Psi Chi faculty advisor for the vice-president position in their region. Please include the email address of the candidate. After completing the form online, an email will be sent to your candidates acknowledging their acceptance of the nomination and requesting position and biographical statements. Nominees will then submit this information by December 15. On or before February 1, election ballot information regarding the candidates for Psi Chi's Board of Directors and how to vote online will be sent to all Psi Chi chapters.
