Using the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, we selected 160 universities from 8 categories (e.g., Doctoral Research University–Extensive , Doctoral Research University–Intensive, Master's Colleges and Universities I, Master's Colleges and Universities II, Baccalaureate Colleges–Liberal Arts, Baccalaureate Colleges–General, Baccalaureate/Associates Colleges, and Associates Colleges). We accessed each institution's handbook and catalog, if available through the Internet. We downloaded and reviewed policies on academic dishonesty and plagiarism. We found that 66% of the institutions sampled have an academic dishonesty policy on their website and 54% include statements about plagiarism.
