The chair of the Psi Chi/Erlbaum Awards in Cognitive Science Committee, Christopher Koch, PhD, has announced the winner of the 2000-2001 Erlbaum Award competition. The undergraduate student winner is Julia E. Misak of Southwestern Oklahoma State University for her paper entitled "The Effect of Stereotype Priming on the Other Race Effect." Psi Chi congratulates this 2001 winner of the Erlbaum Award and wishes her continued success in her education and career. The cash award for this competition was $500 for the first-place undergraduate student.

Julia E. Misak, the first-place undergraduate winner, is currently a senior at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She will graduate in May 2002 with a BS in psychology and a minor in developmental psychology. The daughter of Marvin and Nancy Misak, she is originally from Duncan, Okla. Over the past two years, Ms. Misak has worked as a research assistant under the direction of Dr. Melinda Burgess, studying the cross-race effect in facial recognition. She has been active in many activities, including serving as president of both Southwestern's Psychology Club and Gamma Delta Kappa women's honor society. After graduation, Ms. Misak plans to pursue a PhD in cognitive psychology. Specifically, she hopes to continue to study memory.
