Friends University (KS)
Congratulations to the Psi Chi Chapter at Friends University (KS) for winning the 2007-08 Psi Chi/Ruth Hubbard Cousins National Chapter Award. This award recognizes the one chapter that best achieves Psi Chi’s purpose, which is “to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual member in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.” This award was established to honor Psi Chi’s former executive director Ruth Hubbard Cousins for her 33 years of dedicated service.
This award-winning chapter received a $3,500 check, in addition to travel expenses to the 2008 APA/Psi Chi National Conference in Boston, MA, where the award was presented. Following the presentation, the winning essay on “How to Become a Successful Psi Chi Chapter” was presented by Kristina R. Thielen (Chapter Vice-President).
Friends University was chosen as the winning chapter because of the outstanding accomplishments and activities of its members during the past 3 academic years.
