The Psi Chi Awards Committee is pleased to announce the winners of this year's 2005-06 Regional Faculty Advisor Awards. Listed below is a summary of the backgrounds and accomplishments of these worthy winners.

|| BIOGRAPHIES OF WINNERS:

Larry Sensenig received his PhD in experimental psychology from Iowa State University. He is a professor and chair of the psychology department at Morningside College, Sioux City, Iowa where he holds the Daniel Starch Endowed Chair in Psychology. For 10 years he served as the head for the Behavioral Science and Human Development Division of the college and has also served as the Faculty Representative to the Board of Directors. From 1994-2001, he served on the Editors Advisory Board for Dushkin/McGraw-Hill's Biopsychology-Annual Edition. Dr. Sensenig has received several teaching awards at Morningside College. He has been voted by students as the Morningside College Faculty Person of the Year (1991-92) and has been voted by faculty to be the Charles and Lucille Wert Faculty Person of the Year (2000-01). Dr. Sensenig has published articles in Physiological Psychology, Physiology and Behavior, and Education and Training in Mental Retardation.
     Currently Dr. Sensenig teaches courses in introductory psychology, learning and memory, experimental psychology, behavior modification, history of psychology, biopsychology, and a freshman seminar course. On May 16, 2006, he will be taking students to London to investigate psychological points of interest. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, Sigma Xi, the Midwestern Psychological Association, and Psi Chi. Whether in the classroom or the laboratory Dr. Sensenig is an advocate for the teaching and learning of undergraduate psychology.


Ngoc T. Bui, PhD, became interested in psychology with her first psychology class at Pasadena City College when she was a junior in high school. From that moment on, she knew she would find her niche in the field of psychology. Dr. Bui received her bachelor's degree in psychology from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona in 1994 where her involvement with Psi Chi began while serving as president of the Psi Chi chapter. Dr. Bui attended graduate school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned her master's (1997) and doctorate (2000) degrees in social psychology. Upon completing her education, she began teaching full-time at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Nebraska, and found teaching and working with students a welcomed challenge. After three years at Metro, Dr. Bui began a full-time position at the University of La Verne (ULV) in La Verne, California. Although difficult at times, she continues to pursue her research interests, mainly in the areas of improving teaching, academic procrastination, and social cognition.
      Additionally, Dr. Bui teaches a variety of courses at ULV, including Learning and Behavior Change, Research Methods, Statistics, and Social Psychology. However, she feels her best assignment at ULV so far has been to work with the Psi Chi chapter and its wonderful students. The role of faculty advisor continues to be a pleasure for her as she helps students achieve personal and academic goals through a worthwhile organization. Aside from her academic life, Dr. Bui enjoys traveling and spending family time with her 20-month old daughter Grace and her husband Kent.
