Regional Faculty Advisor 1997-1998 Award Winners

Psi Chi congratulates Dr. Brad Bushman of Iowa State University as the winner of the Midwestern Regional Faculty Advisor Award. In the chapter’s letter of nomination, Chapter President Shawn Peters says Dr. Bushman “has shown enthusiasm and commitment to Psi Chi. He continually remains in contact with the officers, informing them of upcoming events that would be of interest to psychology majors; serves as a main contact person with the National Office; demonstrates a sincere interest in the members; and has a number of great ideas for programs and fundraising activities.” His research interests include aggression (especially the effect of media violence on aggression), experimental personality, social influence, and meta-analysis. Since 1990, Dr. Bushman has published over 14 articles, some of which have appeared in Newsweek and USA Today. As an undergraduate at Weber State University, Dr. Bushman was one of the winners of a 1984 Psi Chi/J. P. Guilford Award. While a graduate student at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Dr. Bushman was named a 1988 winner of the Psi Chi/APA Edwin B. Newman Graduate Research Award. Psi Chi is tremendously pleased to have one of its outstanding student Psi Chi members go on to become an outstanding Psi Chi faculty advisor, as well as a renowned researcher. As noted in the nomination letter, “Dr. Bushman should be recognized for his sincere interest and dedication to Psi Chi and to the science of psychology.”
