PSI CHI: The International Honor Society in Psychology

The International Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi chapters have reported great success over the years with their many Adopt-A-Shelter projects within their communities. Chapters have reported a variety of services that have been delivered by the chapters to their chosen shelters. In addition to the contributions of clothing, food, and supplies gathered by members in donation boxes, chapters also reported having donated a great deal of time--

  • providing job interview skills and tips on how to dress for the job,
  • giving after-school care to children,
  • painting a room in the shelter,
  • teaching self-defense techniques to shelter residents (provided by a member with a black belt in karate)

Psi Chi members are encouraged to brainstorm about additional services their chapter might provide to their chosen shelter during this ongoing national service project of Psi Chi. Be sure to inform the Central Office of your Adopt-A-Shelter activities so they can be published in Eye on Psi Chi.
