Selecting an appropriate graduate school and completing the application process can be a time consuming and potentially stressful experience. This symposium is designed to help minimize the stress and increase the likelihood of finding a graduate program that best matches research interests and future goals. Three important aspects of the application process are addressed. First, strategies are presented for finding a graduate program and even a graduate faculty member that matches students’ research and professional interests. Letters of recommendation are a critical piece to the application. Ways to obtain the best letters of recommendation are discussed. Finally, preparation tips for the GRE are presented along with a timeline to complete the application process without being rushed and ensuring the best possible application.
