Austin State University Psi Chi Chapter, are spearheading a second annual activity at the SWPA Social. The SWPA Social will offer a relaxed atmosphere and a cash bar for refreshments, but if you are a student member of Psi Chi, the Southwestern Region of Psi Chi will provide you with a ticket for a free nonalcoholic beverage and snacks at the social. Pick a ticket up in the Psi Chi Hospitality Suite in the West Fork II room on Thursday. Everyone is also invited to participate in activities (including prizes) to promote interactions between attendees from different universities, or you can just come and watch the fun.

Peter Gray is professor of psychology at Boston College, where he has served his department at various times as Department Chair, Undergraduate Program Director, and Graduate Program Director. His early research had to do with neural and hormonal mechanisms of basic mammalian motives and emotions. His more recent research is concerned with self-directed education and particularly with the educative value of children's play. He is author of
Psychology, a college level introductory textbook, now in its 5th edition. Before joining Boston College he studied psychology as an undergraduate at Columbia University and earned a PhD in biological sciences at Rockefeller University. He earned his way through college by coaching basketball and working with youth groups in New York City. His avocations today include long-distance bicycling, backpacking, kayaking, and backwoods cross-country skiing.
