What does “funded participant” mean?
If you are a “funded participant,” Psi Chi will pay for your hotel room and tax as well as up to $400 in travel expenses.  Receipts must be provided for reimbursement.  Please note, the funding is based on double occupancy. Psi Chi will assign each participant a roommate of same sex and status (i.e. student or faculty advisor).

If I am a “funded participant”, what expenses will I be responsible for paying?
“Funded participants” will be required to pay:

  • the $220 conference registration fee
  • travel costs in excess of $400
  • incidental charges to hotel room
  • taxi/shuttle costs if the free hotel shuttle is not utilized for transportation to and from the Nashville airport
  • meals not included in the NLC

Which meals will be provided by Psi Chi in association with the NLC?
The following meals are included in the NLC conference registration fee:

Friday, January 2 Dinner
Saturday, January 3 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Sunday, January 4 Breakfast


Who is eligible to be a “funded participant”?

To be eligible for conference funding, you must be either a student who is the president OR president-elect, or a faculty advisor. The chapter must be located beyond a 100 mile radius of Nashville, Tennessee.  Funding is limited to no more than four per chapter; to be eligible to participate you must be one of the above officers and/or a chapter faculty advisor.

Who is eligible to be a “partially funded” participant?
To be eligible for partial conference funding, you must be either a student who is the president OR president-elect, or a faculty advisor. The chapter must be between 30-100 mile radius of Nashville, Tennessee.  Partial Funding is limited to one of the above officers and a faculty advisor per chapter.

What expenses are paid for a “partially funded” participant?
The participant’s hotel room and taxes will be paid for Friday and Saturday night at double-occupancy rates. If a single room is requested, the participant must pay the remaining portion of the hotel charges in advance to Psi Chi.

How many “funded” slots will be available?
Seventy six (76) funded slots are available. This includes both the “funded” and “partially funded” participants.

How will they be selected?
Slots are filled on a first come/first served basis so be sure to register early to increase your chance of being selected.  Registration begins September 17th at 12:00 noon EST.

When would I be notified if I am a “funded participant,” “partially funded participant,” or  “non-funded participant”?
Psi Chi will notify all of their selection no later than December 16, 2008.  At that time, participants will be informed of their status.

When does registration begin?  When does registration end?
Registration begins on September 17th at 12:00 noon EST.  Registration will end once all slots (funded, partially funded and non-funded) have been filled or on November 30 if all slots have yet to be filled.  Psi Chi will post a notice that registration has been closed on the Psi Chi website, www.psichi.org

Who makes travel arrangements for the conference?
Participants will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements.  Please do not make travel arrangements until your attendance (either funded, partially or non-funded) has been confirmed in writing by the Psi Chi National Office.

If I am a “non-funded participant” what expenses am I responsible for paying?
Non-funded participants will be responsible for:

  • the $220 conference registration fee
  • all travel expenses
  • meals not included in association with the NLC meeting agenda
  • all hotel expenses
  • any other expenses associated with the conference

How many “non-funded participants” may attend?
There are 28 “non-funded participant” slots available.

How are “non-funded” slots filled?
Again, they are on a first come/first served basis.  They are limited to four per chapter, co-president, president elect and/or faculty advisors are eligible to participate.

What happens if I need to cancel my participation?
Participants may cancel their registration in writing by sending an email to NLC@psichi.org on/before November 30, 2008 and receive a full refund.  Cancellations after November 30, 2008 will not be eligible for a refund. Cancellations not made in writing will not be eligible for a refund.

When do I pay the conference registration fee?
You must pay the conference registration fee at the time you register online.

Can I be placed on the registration list without paying the registration fee upfront?
No. You must pay when you register online. Psi Chi will not “hold spots” for anyone while finding funding to cover the registration fee.

What if I do not know my Psi Chi member ID number?
Contact the National Office at (423) 756-2044 during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST. Be prepared to provide your name, your chapter, your approximate induction date, your student ID number, and your current email address. If you are unable to call, please email the National Office at psichi@psichi.org to obtain this information. In your email, please provide your name, your phone number, your chapter, your approximate induction date, your student ID number, and your email address. Please do NOT include your social security number. Please allow a full business day for your email to be returned or your call to be returned if you leave a voice mail message.

What forms of payment are accepted?
Psi Chi can accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and PayPal. Please be aware that if your PayPal account is funded through a checking account, your registration will not be placed in line until after the payment clears which can take 7-10 business days.

Can I register by mailing registration information to the National Office with payment?
No. Online registrations will be the only type considered for the 2009 NLC. This ensures everyone has the same opportunity to register and be funded for the conference.

Does my advisor have to register for me?
No. If you are the chapter president or president-elect, you may register yourself.

What members can attend the NLC?
Only chapter presidents, chapter president-elects, and faculty advisors are eligible. No other officers, former officers, or chapter members may attend. Each chapter may send up to two members and two faculty advisors as long as the members are presidents or president-elects.

If my advisor is not attending, can the chapter-president and chapter president-elect both attend?
Yes. Psi Chi has extended the registration to up to 4 individuals per chapter. Only chapter presidents, president elects or faculty advisors are eligible though. This directive is regardless of funding status.

How do I cancel my registration?
Send an email to NLC@psichi.org on or before November 1, 2008. Please include your name and order number.
