Psi Chi/STP Assessment Resource Grant
The purpose of this grant is to further the goals of Psi Chi and the Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP) by supporting projects to develop assessment tests/instruments/processes to demonstrate student acquisition of goals 2, 4, and 5 of the APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major (see http://www.apa.org/ed/psymajor_guideline.pdf for descriptions of these goals). All faculty who are members of Psi Chi and STP are eligible.

Apply for $1000 APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship
Psi Chi and the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) are partnering to provide a new fellowship opportunity for grad students just starting in their programs. The intent of the Junior Scientist Fellowship is two-fold: to provide funding for 1st-year or 2nd-year graduate-level projects and to provide constructive feedback to applicants in order to increase their chances of achieving success on a future National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship application. Funds must be used for the direct costs of 1st or 2nd-year psychological science projects. To be eligible, applicants must be members of APAGS and Psi Chi. Psi Chi Program at APS: May 27, 2011
All Psi Chi sessions at the 23rd Annual Association for Psychological Science convention are scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2011. The convention is May 26-29, 2011 in Washington, DC. Dr. Michael S. Gazzaniga, professor of Psychology and director of the SAGE Center for the Study of the Mind of the University of California, Santa Barbara, will present the Psi Chi Distinguished Lecture, “We Are the Law: The Human Mind, Free Will, and the Limits of Determinism.” This lecture will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the International Ballroom East at the Washington Hilton. Faculty Advisor Training Offered in July through Mortar Board Honor Society
Mortar Board is sponsoring a new program for faculty advisors of all ACHS honor societies, LEAD (Leadership Education and Advisor Development). LEAD addresses many of the issues that all societies’ advisors face, and is not just Mortar Board-specific. The program’s faculty members are experienced professionals who have served as advisors to many student organizations and have quantifiable expertise to share during this day-long interactive workshop. LEAD will be held Friday, July 29, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/chiap-chicago-marriott-ohare/). Registration is $320 for any ACHS member society and includes access to Mortar Board’s special LEAD website with continuing advisory support after the program.
