New
Membership Recruitment Contest Coming Soon! Four Chapters Will Win a Chapter
Banner!
Is
your chapter the Psi Chi recruiting champ? Find out how you stack up against
other chapters by entering our new Member Recruitment Contest, coming next
semester. To get ready, save data on how many students accept the invitation to
join Psi Chi and become members of your chapter this year.
There
are two categories in which chapters can compete: highest percentage of invitees
who join this academic year and most improved (2010–11 percentage compared to
2011–12). If your chapter wishes to compete for most improved, dig up your data
from last year too.
The top two chapters in each category will win
a personalized chapter vinyl banner (see pg. 47 of the Summer 2011 Eye on Psi
Chi).
Stay tuned! Contest rules and application details
will be announced in upcoming issues of the Digest and on the Psi Chi Central Office
Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PsiChiCentralOffice)
Thanks
to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay chapter for coming up with this great
idea!
Social
Science Division Student Travel Awards from CUR
The
Social Science Division is offering a limited number of travel grants, up to
$200 each, for undergraduate students presenting the results of research that
they have conducted at a regional or national, discipline-specific meeting
during the academic year 2011-12. Award recipients are required to acknowledge
CUR for support of their travel in their talk or poster. After the meeting, a
brief report about the experience is expected. Minority students are encouraged
to apply. Eligibility criteria: Undergraduate student must be a junior or
senior, student’s mentor must be a CUR member or the student’s home institution
must be a CUR institutional member, and student’s home institution must match
the travel grant. Applications for a travel grant to a fall 2011 or spring 2012
meeting are now being accepted. Award decisions will be made on a first come,
first serve basis. For application requirements and more details visit: www.cur.org/socscistudenttravel.html

activities and achievements in local papers and media. The Psi Chi Central
Office has created an online guide to help prepare press releases and increase
your chapter's exposure at http://www.psichi.org/chapters/press.aspx
