In This Edition of the Digest:
Nominations
President-Elect
Regional Vice-Presidents (Eastern, Rocky Mountain, and Western Regions)
Deadline for Nominations: December 15
Why Should You Participate?
The election process is in your chapter’s and our Society’s best interest. Chapters have the responsibility and privilege to help Psi Chi fulfill its purpose and mission by nominating and electing officers who are best suited to accomplish them. The President and Regional Vice-Presidents of our organization are charged with serving chapter and member needs. Thus, you are selecting officers who have the power to benefit your chapter, your officers, and your advisor. Let your voices be heard during Psi Chi election time! Start now by nominating!
President
Each year, a new President for our Society is elected. This person holds office for three years, one year as the President-Elect, one year as the President, and one year as the Past-President. All regions may vote for the President-Elect. The President is the official spokesperson for Psi Chi, along with the Executive Director, and holds the highest level of leadership responsibility of any of the Society’s elected officers.
Eligible nominees for President-Elect are:
Daniel Corts (Midwestern 2010-12)
Randall E. Osborne (Southwestern 2008-12)
R. Eric Landrum (Rocky Mountain 2009-11)
Ngoc H. Bui (Western 2007-11)
Betsy L. Morgan (Midwestern 2006-10)
Melanie Domenech Rodríguez (Rocky Mountain 2005-09)
Deana L. Julka (Western 2005-07)
Richard A. Kasschau (Southwestern 2004-08)
Joseph J. Palladino (Midwestern 2000-02)
Regional Vice-Presidents
VPs are elected by the chapters within their respective regions. In odd years (such as 2013), chapters from the Eastern, Rocky Mountain, and Western regions elect VPs, and in even years (such as 2014), chapters from the Midwestern, Southeastern, and Southwestern regions elect VPs. VPs hold office for two years and may run for re-election once. It is important for your chapter to nominate a VP who understands the needs of your school and your members so that you can be well-represented when decisions are made. Make this decision carefully because VPs become part of a select group of people who are eligible to be a nominee for President of Psi Chi after their VP term ends. In other words, the person you select as your VP has the potential to continue to impact our organization for years to come.
How to Nominate
Nominations for all open positions should be submitted by a chapter officer or the chapter advisor via email to Chief Operations Officer Michele Rumpf at
