Psi Chi Digest #35
11/26/2001
As this academic term draws to a close, Psi Chi would like to remind its chapters and members about the 9-11 tragedy, the December 1 award deadlines, and several other important news items listed below and online.
9-11 TRAGEDY: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Did your chapter sponsor a special project for relief efforts following the September 11th tragedy? Psi Chi would like to recognize these efforts by publishing descriptive accounts in an upcoming issue of Eye on Psi Chi. E-mail your chapter's account 9-11 story to psichi@psichi.org by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2001.
THIS IS THE LAST WEEK TO...
...mail your submissions for the five Psi Chi award and grant programs that have a submission deadline of December 1, 2001 (postmark). Submission forms and information about these awards and grants can be found here.
REMINDER: RETURN NOMINATIONS BY DECEMBER 15
If your chapter has chosen to nominate a candidate for Psi Chi President-Elect (see the Call for Nominations mailed to all chapters), please remember to return the requested information by December 15 to the correct address. December 15 is also the return deadline for chapters in the Midwestern, Southeastern, and Southwestern regions who are nominating candidates for their region's vice-president.
ELECT NEW OFFICERS FOR FOLLOWING YEAR
If your chapter hasn't already done so, the National Office encourages you to elect new officers for the 2002-03 year. No, that's not a typo--for yes, the 2002-03 year. We want your chapter to have a smooth transition from year to year. However, the number one problem we hear from chapters nationwide is exactly the opposite, that is, chapters NOT having a smooth transition. Many chapters report on how last year's officers are gone, and the current officers don't know what to do. Instead, elect next year's officers in January and have them come alongside this year's officers to learn what their responsibilities and duties will be in the coming year so as to provide a smooth transition.
