NATIONAL ELECTION: PSI CHI NATIONAL COUNCIL Ballots for candidates for the 2005-06 Psi Chi National Council were mailed last week to all active chapters--your chapter should receive its ballot shortly. Your chapter's vote is very important as it determines the leadership of Psi Chi, and thus Psi Chi policy. The deadline to return the ballot is March 15, 2005. Read about this year's election here: http://www.psichi.org/news/article_151.asp
APA EXPLORING BEHAVIOR WEEK Would you like to share your excitement of learning about human behavior and cognitive processing with others and help educate people about the science of psychology? If this type of outreach appeals to you, the Psi Chi National Council encourages you to participate in APA's Exploring Behavior Week initiative. APA is recruiting college faculty and students to conduct 45- to 60-minute presentations about the science of psychology to middle school and high school students. APA will provide you with materials for the presentations. For more information, view here: http://www.psichi.org/news/article_152.asp
SUMMER RESEARCH AND NSF/REU GRANT PROGRAMS Applications for these two grant programs are both due this spring. Both grant programs fund undergraduate Psi Chi members for purposes of conducting research during the summer. The deadline for the Summer Research Grants is March 30, whereas the deadline for the NSF/REU Grants is dependent upon each REU site's deadline. http://www.psichi.org/news/article_150.asp
CHAPTER REMINDER: REGISTERING NEW MEMBERS The National Office recommends your chapter mail its new member registration materials at least 3 weeks before the spring induction ceremony (so as to avoid rush fees). Doing so will enable your chapter to receive its new member certificates, cards, and lapel pins in time for new member inductions. Guidelines for inducting new members are listed online: http://www.psichi.org/chapters/inductmembers.asp
