ONLINE CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR PSI CHI
Psi Chi is currently in the process of receiving Online Nominations for the upcoming national elections. Chapter Administrators may log onto the Psi Chi website and submit a nomination. Nominations will be accepted for President-Elect and Vice-President for three regions (Eastern, Rocky Mountain, and Western).

All chapters may submit a nominee for President-Elect from the list of candidates who qualify for this position by having served at least two years within the last 10 years as a regional vice-president. The list of eligible candidates is available on the website. Each chapter may nominate one candidate from this list for the President-Elect position. After you submit an online nomination, an email will be sent to your candidate notifying the person of the nomination. A web link is provided to the nominee allowing the nominee to accept or decline the nomination. If the nominee accepts, he or she will be required to provide position and biographical statements. Nominees will need to submit this information by December 15 in order to be counted as valid.

In addition to President-Elect, chapters in three regions (Eastern, Rocky Mountain, and Western) may nominate an actively involved Psi Chi faculty advisor for the vice-president position in their region. Please include the email address of the candidate and a description of why you chose the individual to represent your region. After you complete the form online, an email will be sent to your candidate notifying the person of the nomination. A web link is provided to the nominee allowing the nominee to accept or decline the nomination. If the nominee accepts, he or she will be required to provide position and biographical statements. Nominees will need to submit this information by December 15. On or before February 1, election ballot information regarding the candidates for Psi Chi's National Council and how to vote online will be sent to all Psi Chi chapters.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE WITH APA’S SCIENCE DIRECTORATE
Psi Chi has partnered with the APA’s Science Directorate to offer an internship during the summer that is exclusive to Psi Chi undergraduate members. Applications are due online by January 15, 2009. Since official transcripts and letters of recommendation are required elements of the application, interested members are encouraged to collect their application materials early so they can be submitted prior to the end of the fall semester. Complete submission instructions can be found online. Questions about the program can be emailed to the National Office.

FEB 1 AWARD DEADLINE: BANDURA, COUSINS, FBI NCAVC, NEWMAN, WEBSITE
Submissions to four Psi Chi Awards and one Psi Chi Grant are due on February 1, 2009. Newman Award applicants need not be a member of Psi Chi to apply as all psychology graduate-level students are eligible. More information about each award and submission links can be found here.

SIX APS SUMMER RESEARCH GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR 2009
Psi Chi is pleased to be partnering with the Association for Psychological Science (APS) to offer six summer research grants again in 2009.  Each grant provides the student with a $3,500 stipend to conduct research with an APS sponsor over the summer. The sponsor receives $1,500, making the total value of each grant $5,000.  This spring, APS will provide Psi Chi a list of APS members who are willing to sponsor a student for the summer to conduct research. This list is posted on Psi Chi’s website.  Interested members can refer to the list and contact sponsors to arrange summer projects.  Ideally, applicants will apply to work with mentors in institutions outside of their own institution. Preference will be given to projects that are spearheaded by the grant applicant, encompass all aspects of the research process, and might result in a first-authored publication or presentation by the applicant.  The deadline for submissions for this grant is March 1.  Complete details can be obtained on Psi Chi’s website.
