Psi Chi Digest #43

4/8/2002

Please read the following Psi Chi news regarding reports due from all chapters, the May 1 deadline, and other Psi Chi news. To view previous editions of the digest, click here.

ANNUAL & FINANCIAL REPORTS DUE
Chapters are reminded that they must file the Chapter Annual Report and Chapter Financial Report each year by June 30. Why the early reminder? Since some chapters report their academic year ending in late April or early May, chapters are being given plenty of time to file these reports. These reports can be filed online from the following URL, or the hard copies of each report (download a pdf file: Annual Report, Financial Report) can be mailed/faxed to the National Office. NOTE: Both reports must be filed by either a chapter officer or a faculty advisor.

MAY 1 AWARDS DEADLINE: 3 PSI CHI AWARDS
Three Psi Chi awards share the May 1, 2002 deadline--the Guilford, Allyn & Bacon, and Erlbaum Awards. Undergraduate members may apply to all three, while the Erlbaum Award in Cognitive Science awards the top graduate and undergraduate research from Psi Chi members.

TRANSITION REMINDER
Psi Chi would like to remind you of one of the main problem areas for chapters and how to avoid it. Too often, chapter officers from one academic year leave and do not ensure a smooth transition to the incoming set of officers. So if you haven't already done so, be sure to elect next year's officers for your chapter now. Also, make sure that the current officers share transitional information (such as chapter financial records and chapter e-mail account information) and apprise the new officers of their responsibilities and duties.
