SUMMER POSITION AVAILABLE WORKING WITH DR. AIELLO at RUTGERS UNIVERSITY (NJ)
Dr. John R. Aiello has an opening in his lab at Rutgers University for one undergraduate student to work this summer. His current research includes inquiries in three related directions. First, he studies the role of feedback in the process by which people regulate and control their social interaction.
Second, the technological advances and computer software development in the workplace have made it possible for employers to monitor the work of many individuals and he studies the effects of this "electronic presence," using a social facilitation framework. Other studies investigate the effect on supervisors of "continually available" performance information.
Third, his research investigates telecommuting, virtual environments, and virtual teams, the impacts of a multitasking environment, the effect of interruptions (via various channels) on task performance, and personality predictors of performance. Most recently, research has focused on leadership factors associated with recovery in post-Katrina New Orleans.
Interested students can contact Dr. Aiello at jack.aiello@gmail.com to receive more information about this summer position.
2009 APA CONVENTION
Psi Chi's 80th Annual Convention, held in conjunction with the 2009 APA Convention, is in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from August 6 - 9, 2009. This year's Distinguished Lecturer is John T. Cacioppo, PhD. View Psi Chi programs, co-listed sessions, and details about the cosponsored 5K Race.
CHAPTER REMINDERS: REMAINING NEW MEMBERS AND CHAPTER REPORTS
Chapters are reminded to forward all new members' information and fees from the 2008-09 academic year to the Central Office. Individuals become Psi Chi members only when their registration information & fees are entered at the Central Office. Chapters sometimes neglect to forward new inductees' information and/or fees, and thus those persons are never officially registered as members. Chapters are also reminded to file their Annual & Financial Reports by June 30, 2009 (requires log on as a chapter administrator).
