Changing Fear

How do we control fears? Extinction and emotion regulation can be used to control fear via inhibitory signals from the prefrontal cortex to the amygdala. One drawback of these techniques is that fears can return. A more lasting technique may be to target the fear memory itself through influencing reconsolidation.
