International Symbols for Psychologists

by Mitchell M. Handelsman and Joseph J. Palladino - University of Colorado at Denver, University of Southern Indiana

Category: Humor

The rise of global communication along with corresponding decreases in literacy have led to a movement away from language-based communication to symbol-based approaches. Some of us are old enough to remember when "WALK" and "DON'T WALK" signs were replaced with the stick figure and the hand. We've all seen restrooms and olympic sports identified by drawings rather than words. These new symbols make it easier to identify what exactly we're watching on TV, and prevent serious embarrassment in restaurants.
In an effort to popularize a range of psychological specialties like sports and other endeavors, we provide for your consideration the following "international symbols" for psychologists.

Clinical Psychologist         Comparative Psychologist
