Application Deadline: March 9, 2012
Background Information: It is the policy of the Steering Committee of the Rocky Mountain Region of Psi Chi that Regional Travel Awards be open to all Psi Chi members in the region who plan to attend the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association annual meeting. Although presenting at the conference is one of the screening criteria, it is not required. The impact of the student's participation in the regional conference on her/his local chapter is the primary criterion for selection as a regional travel award winner.
What to Submit:
Applicants for the Psi Chi Regional Travel Awards - Rocky Mountain Regional applicants must complete an online application form, submit an essay, and submit a budget. The essay and budget will be emailed to rockymtnvp@psichi.org by midnight on March 9, 2012.
Travel Grant Application
Selection Criteria: The granting of awards and the dollar amount of each award (within the minimum and maximum range) will be determined by the following criteria. Each of the following is weighted equally (unless otherwise indicated) in the screening process:
- Quality of Essay (most important criterion and weighted triple) – should be 500 words or less and include:
- What do you think you will learn at RMPA that can benefit your local Psi Chi chapter?
- How do you plan on conveying the learned information to your Psi Chi chapter (presentation at a meeting, written report on chapter website, etc)?
- How will this new knowledge change your Psi Chi chapter?
- Statement of financial need on the application form
- Distance from local chapter campus to the regional conference described on application form
- Applications will be accepted from all Psi Chi student members, but being a current Psi Chi chapter officer will give the application preference for funding (Officer information must be onfile at the Psi Chi Central Office at the time of submission)
- Presentation proposal submitted to convention described on application form
- First author on presentation submission indicated on application form
- Budget and other sources of funding sought. The budget must include amount requested and for what purpose (e.g., airfare, accommodation, registration) and any other sources of funding.
