Meaning in life is widely considered to be a cornerstone of psychological well-being. Meaning in life is comprised of at least three facets--coherence (the feeling that life makes sense), significance (the feeling that one matters), and purpose (the feeling that one's behaviors are driven by goals and aims). In this talk, I will review the current state of the science of meaning in life, highlighting the roles of each facet of meaning in the meaningful life.

I will address, especially, the relevance of the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic to the experience of meaning and its reinstatement through these facets. Through an examination of the research literature, I hope to share the ways we can experience our lives as meaningful even during ever changing, and difficult times.
