PSI CHI FACULTY ADVISOR DIGEST #255 | October 26, 2015
Join us on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. Send any questions/suggestions HERE.

Are Your Ready for Your Induction Ceremony?
Advisors, please View/Process Members online as soon as possible (see complete instructions). Then, send all registration fees to the Central Office at least three weeks before your induction ceremony so that new member materials can be mailed to the chapter address on file in the Central Office database. You can learn more about inductions with the following three Psi Chi resources.

  • Faculty Advisor Timeline—This comprehensive list will keep you up to speed on inducting members and all other advisor duties.
  • Chapter Handbook—Pages 30 and 31 also include an abbreviated list of recruitment and induction advice for advisors.
  • Ritual Templates—Choose between our Formal, Informal, Platonic Myth, and Candlelight Ceremony templates.

Consider Running for Psi Chi's Board of Directors
Nominations for Psi Chi’s 2016–17 Board of Directors opens November 1, 2015. Offices up for election are President-Elect and Vice-Presidents of the Midwestern, Southeastern, and Southwestern regions. Look for an e-mail with complete information next week.

Tell Your Students
Here’s an all-new template to encourage your chapter members to apply for Psi Chi Undergraduate Scholarships. Sending this message to nonmembers will also show them another reason why they should join Psi Chi. Please feel free to add other relevant chapter announcements to the template as well.

Attend a Convention With Us
Our regional conventions are not until spring, but the correct time to start planning for them is now! Encourage your undergraduate and graduate members to compete for Psi Chi’s Regional Research Awards
(78 cash awards of $300 each) and Regional Travel Grants (over $33,000 awarded). Guiding students to attend is an outstanding mentorship opportunity; be sure to stop by the Psi Chi Booth while you are there.

Meet Our Faculty Award Winners

Next year’s deadline for both awards is March 22, 2016.
Good luck to you all!

Faculty Journal Submissions Are Welcome
Faculty, undergraduate, and graduate student Psi Chi members are invited to submit their empirical research to Psi Chi Journal of Psychological Research. All manuscripts are reviewed based on the primary author’s academic level, so please take advantage of the unique feedback you will receive from your peers. To improve the impact of your research, our Journal is indexed in PsycINFO and EBSCO academic search databases. Psi Chi members read all articles for free!

Contribute to Successful Online Research
Did you know that all Psi Chi members—including faculty—can submit a link to their online surveys on our Post a Study page? Members and nonmembers alike can participate in the studies on this page; please also consider encouraging your students to complete a few surveys for course credit or just to support psychological science this fall.

Gain Valuable Research Experience
Psi Chi’s Research Advisory Committee would like to bring to your attention a great opportunity that would be good for any Psi Chi member—Many Labs 4! The preferred deadline is not far away, but requests for participating labs will be accepted until the end of the year.

With each edition of the Digest, you get important news,
announcements, and upcoming convention information from the Psi Chi Central Office.
