Consider Becoming Psi Chi's Next Diversity Director

Interested in helping to ensure that our Society reflects the rich diversity of people and perspectives in psychology? This part-time position is intended to count toward a faculty member’s professional service but includes a $5,000 annual stipend (paid quarterly) and limited travel funds to support the promotion of Psi Chi diversity initiatives. Psi Chi Seeks New RAC Member
Consider joining the Research Advisory Committee to help faculty and students do quality research. The RAC advises Psi Chi about projects and initiatives including making suggestions for partnerships, building research skills, and participation opportunities that will benefit the Society and its members. Is Your Chapter on the Right Track?
The bigger your chapter becomes, the greater its impact can be. Start your recruitment drives early this year so that interested students can join and begin receiving membership benefits (e.g., leadership experience and access to awards and grants) as soon as possible. To attract new members:

  • Send out invites using our Invitation to Join template, as well as posters, flyers, bulletin boards, classroom announcements, etc.
  • View pages 8–9 of our Chapter Handbook for step-by-step recruitment instructions.
  • Provide a hard deadline and follow up with prospective members before that date to increase your response rate.

The End of Member Cards and Pins
Member orders dated after July 1, 2016, will no longer include free membership cards or pins. Instead, advisors are welcome to order membership pins online as desired. Free lifetime membership certificates will continue to be provided as always.

Chapter Activities Deadline Extended to October 15
Have you or an officer in your chapter submitted up to 250 words for publication in the Winter issue of Eye on Psi Chi magazine? Complete instructions and sample submissions of our new activities format are both available. Remember: Photos are welcome too!

Protect Your Chapter From Losing Tax-Exempt Status
Make sure someone at your chapter has completed our short Group Tax Exemption Authorization Form, which was due September 15, 2016. This form authorizes Psi Chi Central Office to file the official IRS Form 990N on your chapter’s behalf. Failing to complete this form could result in your chapter losing its tax-exempt status. Supporting Online Psychological Research

Take a few minutes to participate in online research being conducted by Psi Chi members. Then, please encourage your Psi Chi students to post a link to their online studies so that we can help them find additional participants as well.


Student Research Presentation Opportunity

The Second Annual Arizona Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference is taking place February 24 and 25, 2017! Hosted by the Arizona State University Chapter of Psi Chi, this conference applies to all levels of research experience. Abstracts are due October 30. Visit HERE for more information.
