Changes to Membership Fees for International Chapters

With chapters across the globe, Psi Chi strives to ensure that each academically qualified student can access Psi Chi membership. Historically, Psi Chi has adjusted international membership fees every 3 to 4 years based on World Bank Categories—an approach
that was less sensitive to annual fluctuations in local economies or students’ financial realities.

To move towards greater economic equity, Psi Chi’s Board of Directors approved a new method for determining international membership fees. Our goal is for the $55 United States Dollar (USD) membership fee to be roughly equivalent in your local currency.
To achieve this, we are now using the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) index from the International Monetary Fund to estimate what $55 USD would equate to in your local currency. Then, we apply the corresponding annual exchange rate from the World Bank
to determine the membership fee in USD for your chapter members.

Moving forward, international membership fees will be calculated annually and will be communicated as close to July 1 as possible. Advisors, check your email for a message on August 28 regarding your chapter’s specific membership fee for the 2025–26 academic year. You may also email membership@psichi.org to ask about your chapter’s specific fee or any other questions.

We appreciate your patience as we update our payment systems to reflect this change. We request that chapters outside the U.S. 50 states postpone approving members until we complete the changes on or around October 1, 2025. (All changes—including
requests for membership waivers—should be completed by November 1). If you have prospective members who need to be approved and processed before October 1 or you wish to request membership fee waivers through Psi Chi’s Membership Assistance Program,
    please email membership@psichi.org for assistance.

We will reach out to advisors outside the U.S. 50 states directly to confirm that payment process updates have been completed for your chapters.

With appreciation for all you do for your chapter,

Marianne Fallon, PhD
Psi Chi Executive Director
