Clarion University Service Project

Clarion University Service Project

United Way/Psi Chi Fund-Raiser Project

How many people were involved?

Approximately 10 people were involved in the organization of our project, but the event (Come Together Clarion) had around 200 people attend, while 70–89 participated in making bracelets.

How long did it take to plan?

We began planning our project about two months in advance. Most of our planning time was spent coming up with an idea and then gathering information about the Cancer Center and ordering all the supplies.

How much money did you raise?

We did not directly raise money, but we donated approximately $1,500 worth of bracelets and supplies. (Total of 100 bracelets and supplies to make 200 more. The bracelets are sold by the Cancer Center for $5 each).

If you were planning it again, what would you do differently?

The cold weather put a huge damper on our event, so in upcoming years we would like to have an indoor back-up location. We plan on continuing this project for as many years as we possibly can, so next year we would like to possibly begin a competition of who can make the most bracelets or recruit the most people in order to motivate students and families. We would also like to reach out to other areas of the community to make bracelets, such as local nursing homes or high schools.
