CUR Summer Research Grants
What is it?

Two $5,000 grants for undergraduates and their Council of Undergraduate Studies sponsors. The grants are divided into

  • a $3,500 stipend for the student
  • a $1,500 stipend for the CUR sponsor

How does it work?

  1. An undergraduate Psi Chi member outlines a research project.
  2. The student identifies a faculty member who is willing to supervise a summer research project, who is also a member of CUR.
  3. They apply for the grant, and carry out the research project.

Who should apply?

Undergraduate Psi Chi members who have a CUR sponsor, and who will still be undergraduate students the semester following the summer the sponsored research project is completed.

What is CUR?

The Council of Undergraduate Research exists to promote undergraduate and student-faculty collaborative research.

The application portal will open approximately 30 days before the deadline.

"Finding the area of research that best fits your interests can be challenging and time consuming. I am fortunate that with this grant, I was able to "find my niche” early in my undergraduate career. Through the research process, I have become more familiar with project development and have learned how to better communicate my methods and findings through written and oral presentations. Overall, I have been able to see projects through from start to finish, which has been a personally rewarding opportunity.”
