Midwestern Regional Letter

Dear Midwestern Psi Chi members,

I hope you are enjoying the start of the Fall semester and finding a rhythm to the academic year. Welcome, new Psi Chi members! I am excited to serve you as your Midwest Vice-President over the next two years. If you’d like to learn more about me, please take a look at the Get to Know Your VP page on the Psi Chi website. Below, I’ve listed several key Psi Chi opportunities and deadlines for this fall:

  1. Mark April 11–13, 2019, on your calendar to attend the 2019 Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) convention.
  2. The MPA convention submission deadline is November 6 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The website is LIVE! You can find submission details at the MPA website. We are thrilled to have Dr. Alice Eagly (Northwestern University, IL) as Psi Chi’s Distinguished Lecturer this year. Dr. Eagly is a leading social psychology scholar. She will be discussing gender stereotypes across time and cultures–you won’t want to miss her talk!
  3. Is there something you would like to see at MPA? I would love to hear your suggestions for MPA 2019 at The steering committee is currently working on the MPA program.
  4. If you’re not already a member, I invite you to join our Midwestern Psi Chi Facebook page. You can monitor the page for current announcements, share programs, or request feedback as a part of our online community.
  5. The Give Back to Psi Chi campaign for our 89th year is currently underway. Check out the campaign and please give back if you are able to pay forward the benefits you’ve received from Psi Chi.
  6. The 2018–19 cycle of grants and awards is now open. Remember, these include Undergraduate Research Grants (Oct. 15), Regional Travel Grants (Jan. 30), and Graduate Research Grants (Oct. 15). Check out more details about these grants and the upcoming deadlines for additional programs.
  7. Don’t forget about the research opportunities available through Psi Chi’s Network for International Collaborative Exchange (NICE). Check out both arms of this platform: NICE:CROWD and NICE:CONNECT, which provide collaboration and cross-cultural opportunities.

Wishing you all a happy fall!
