What are your hobbies?
Most of my free time is spent with my family. We enjoy playing games, movies, and traveling. When not with the family, I enjoy reading, hiking, and playing racquetball.

What is the best trip you’ve ever taken?
Last Thanksgiving we took our children to San Diego. They were born there while I was in graduate school, but we had not visited as a family in more than 8 years. We loved it! We enjoyed the old memories and created a whole set of new treasured memories.

What is your favorite food?
With the exception of seafood, I like it all. However, if you forced me to choose, I would take a big plate of steak nachos over most other foods.

What sort of student were you?
Quiet. I went to class, did my work, and tried to be involved, but I was never the student that answered all the questions. I knew what my professional goals were and focused on getting these done.

Who is favorite psychologist?
B.F. Skinner. Skinner’s idea of selection by consequences at multiple levels resonates wonderfully with my world view.

What are three words that best describe you?
Focused, quiet, lighthearted.

What is your favorite class to teach?
really, really like the courses that I am teaching now: Judgment & Decision-Making, Evolutionary Psychology, Psychology of Learning, and a research laboratory course. It would be very hard to choose a favorite from these.

What is the last book you read?
There is Life After College by Jeffrey Selingo and Abaddon’s Gate (Book 3 of the Expanse) by James S. A. Corey. I normally read multiple books from different genres at the same time, and I happened to finish both of these on the same day.

What is your favorite band?
I don’t really have a favorite band. I listen to 80’s rock, alternative, country, classical, rock or pop in Spanish, and Broadway musicals depending on my mood for the day. Which bands are my favorite depend on what genre of music I’m into that day.
